The Coffee Lover’s Companion: 8 Things You Need If You LOVE Coffee!

I LOVE Coffee. I can’t get through a single day without at least two cups of its roasty goodness. Lately, I’ve been experimenting with different types of coffee and different methods of brewing to create my perfect cup. And speaking of cups, I’ve also started collecting fun and unique mugs so I can weed out the boring ones in my cupboard! This inspired me to compile a list of coffee-related goodies I’m calling “The Coffee Lover’s Companion”!

The Coffee Lover's Companion

The Coffee

I have come to find that I LOVE grinding my coffee beans in the morning right before I brew. It makes the kitchen smell amazing and I truly believe that coffee is better freshly ground. There are lots of different types of coffees that all have different flavor profiles. It can be both confusing and frustrating to try to find the perfect coffee. That’s why I LOVE Trade Coffee.

The Coffee Lover's Companion

Trade Coffee is a coffee subscription service that helps you find your perfect brew OR helps you step outside of your comfort zone and try new things! I love the service and have found several new go-to blends that I absolutely enjoy. Click here to receive 30% off your first bag and Trade offers free shipping always!

Another favorite is Counter Culture Big Trouble Medium Roast Whole Bean Coffee which I pick up at Target so it’s easy to get your hands on. It’s smooth and mild but nutty and it has notes of caramel that add sweetness and warmth. I also love it brewed over ice with cream and stevia. πŸ˜‹

The Accessories

The elusive perfect cup of coffee is not so elusive when you have the right accessories. From brewers to mugs and everything in between you can really get creative and forego the expensive chain coffee and make your own at home. Though I still love going to small, quaint coffee shops to experience new coffee creations, I personally don’t get the hype around the “green goddess” if you know what I mean. πŸ˜‰ I’m really not a fan and I feel like their coffee tastes burnt. Just my opinion, don’t come for me!

The Ninja Coffee Bar Brewer with Thermal Carafe is the one I have and I love it. It does everything I need including specialty brews and allows me to make a single cup, a travel cup, a half pot or a whole pot! I can also do cold brew and it’s incredibly easy to use. I’ve looked everywhere to find it and it seems to be out of stock at the moment (thanks ‘rona), but I linked it anyway because I know it will be back in stock!

When it’s time for a new brewer, I already have my eye on this guy, the KBG Coffee Brewer. It has everything you need to create coffee house coffee and brews it to the perfect temperature! The KBG Brewer features a copper boiling element and an independently controlled hot plate ensures precise temperature regulation; so you know you’re getting expertly brewed coffee every time!

When it comes to grinding coffee, I prefer a burr grinder to a blade grinder. A burr grinder will grind the coffee beans into even pieces and is what the pros use. A blade grinder is often less expensive and slices the beans because it has a series of blades that work like a blender. When was the last time you had coffee from “fresh sliced beans”? No thanks. Call me a coffee snob but I’ll take my grounds ground. To grind beans perfectly invest in a good quality burr grinder. I found this one on Amazon that has 40 grind settings which is important if you’re a coffee connoisseur.

To keep my coffee warm during conference calls, I just ordered this Kopi Mug & Warmer Set from Nordstrom. What I love about this set is that you get four mugs so that you don’t have to worry about washing your mug every day. I rarely use the same mug two days in a row and often find my favorite ones in the dishwasher…dirty. πŸ€ͺ The Kopi system uses magnetic induction energy to heat up the metallic layering on the bottom of the ceramic coffee mug. I can’t wait to get these and let you know what I think of them!

Extras For Fun

If you truly love coffee, then you love all things coffee, amirite? I grabbed this coffee-inspired fragrance from Replica called Coffee Break. Top notes are coffee, red apple, and lemon essence; medium are lavender, spearmint, and orange flower, and the base is milk mousse accord, Sri Lankan sandalwood and Virginia cedarwood. I can’t help but think this is going to be an amazing fragrance for fall!

Finally, you can’t be a bonafide coffee drinker if you don’t have a snarky mug. Here are a few of my favorites I found at Wal-Mart. There’s a little something special for my nurses out there! 🀣

I hope my Coffee Lover’s Companion inspires you to try some new ways of drinking coffee. Check out my recipe for glazed donut muffins which are a great accompaniment to a warm, roasty cup of coffee!

Tell me friend…what’s your favorite way to drink coffee and are you a light, medium, or dark roast fan?
