Ridiculously Easy and Delicious Oven-Baked Ribs

Hello friends! Today I have my ridiculously easy and delicious oven-baked ribs recipe to share with you! You can pretty much go anywhere on the internet to find a basic recipe for making ribs in the oven but I am sharing my secret weapons for perfect spicy ribs and that is my rub recipe and my barbecue sauce recipe. The rub is super easy and only 7 ingredients, most of which you may have in your pantry already. The sauce? Well, I’m not sure I should tell you but….it’s Sweet Baby Ray’s. LOL YEP, bottled sauce but it’s soooooooooo good. On everything! So buckle up and follow along with the pictures or jump to the recipe below. And let me know if you try it!

The Rub

So here’s the rub (LOL). You will need:

  • 1/4 Cup Brown Sugar
  • 2 tsp Smoked Paprika
  • 1/2 tsp Ground Mustard
  • 1 tsp Onion Salt
  • 1/4 tsp Cayenne
  • 1 1/2 tsp Kosher Salt
  • 2 tsp Black Pepper
  • (sometimes I add a bit of red pepper flakes for extra spiciness)

Combine all of the ingredients in a small bowl and set aside. This stuff smells amazing and is great on just about everything. Double the recipe and store in an air tight container for later use.

Prepare the ribs

Apply the rub LIBERALLY to the entire rack of ribs. I like to put it in every nook and cranny I can find.

Wrap the seasoned ribs tightly in plastic wrap and place in the refrigerator until ready to bake. I like to let them absorb the flavor of the rub as long as possible but you can do 2 hours up to 1 day.

When you’re ready to bake them, preheat your oven to 225˚ F. Remove the ribs from the plastic and place them in a baking dish meat side down. I cut mine in half so they’d fit, it’s totally fine. Sometimes I just wrap them in foil tightly and place on a baking sheet and cook them that way. I found they turn out basically the same so it’s just a matter of what’s easier for you.

Cover the baking dish tightly with foil and place in the oven.

Bake for approximately 4 hours or until pulling away from the bone easily. Remove the baking dish from the oven and remove the aluminum foil. Drain off the drippings from the pan (or use for your own homemade barbecue sauce) and then flip the ribs carefully so that they’re meat side up.

Apply a healthy layer of your favorite barbecue sauce (we LOVE Sweet Baby Ray’s). Put the ribs back in the oven uncovered for about 20 minutes so that the sauce can become sticky and toasty. Sometimes I even take them out halfway through and add some more sauce before finish up. Cut into servings and share!

Unfortunately I wasn’t quick enough with the camera to capture a picture of them cut into portions because my family grabbed them and they were gone before I blinked my eyes!

Ingredients
  

The Rub

  • 1/4 Cup Brown Sugar

The Main Event

  • 2 racks Baby Back Ribs
  • 2-3 Cups Favorite Barbecue Sauce We LOVE Sweet Baby Ray's

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Prepare the rub
  • Coat the ribs with the rub and ensure that every inch is COVERED with the spicy goodness.
  • Wrap in plastic wrap and keep in the refrigerator for 2 to 3 hours until ready to bake.

Baking the Ribs

  • Preheat the oven to 225˚.
  • Remove the ribs from plastic wrap and place meat side down in baking dishes.
  • Cover the dishes with aluminum foil tightly and place in the oven.
  • For a regular size rack of baby back ribs, take them out after about 4 hours. Less time for a smaller rack.
  • Drain off the drippings and then flip the ribs so that they're meat side up.
  • Apply a healthy layer of barbecue sauce and place back in the oven uncovered for about 20 more minutes.
