How To Make Easter Sunday Special at Home
Hello, my friends! So with Easter quickly approaching and with stay-at-home orders in place, large family gatherings and celebrations just aren’t going to happen. I’ve been wracking my brain to come up with ideas to make Easter as normal for my family as possible and even a little bit more special. Here are some tips I came up with on how to make Easter Sunday special at home.

One of the first things I like to do in the Spring is to hang a pretty wreath on my front door. This year I grabbed this wreath from QVC and I LOVE it so much! It just adds a touch of joy to my front door, even though I’m not using it much these days, HA! Unfortunately, my exact wrath has sold out but this one is very similar!
Another thing I like to do is scatter plants around my house. Plants and flowers just make the place feel cozy and fresh and I love taking care of real plants. It’s very therapeutic!
In addition to my wreath and assorted plants around my house, I turned to Pinterest to find some Easter decor ideas to do with my youngest. Here are a few we picked out:
- Love this centerpiece!
- How cute are these chair decorations?
- I always like to find a post with several ideas like this one!
- Of course, what is Easter without Easter garland?
Easter Dinner and Treats
We always do ham for Easter. My favorite way to make ham is with a maple bourbon glaze. I love this recipe from Food.com. The salty ham and the crunchy sweet glaze are a perfect combo and absolutely delicious.
For a special treat, I make my great-great grandmother’s Easter bread. It’s made with cardamom and it’s so soft and spicy and best served warm with butter. I make it the day before so it’s ready for breakfast Easter morning! This recipe from Taste of Home is very similar to the one I use.
Here are a few additional ideas I saved from Pinterest for Easter dinner and treats:
- Cinnamon Sugar Bunnies
- Honey Garlic Roasted Carrots
- Easter Dinner Ideas
- Easter Side Dish Ideas
- Easter Bunny Chow (love this stuff!)
Of course, I’m also going to be making my yummy glazed donut muffins too! If you haven’t seen them yet, you can check them out here.
What To Wear on Easter
Traditionally when Easter rolls around, I get excited to shop for fun spring outfits and sandals to wear to Easter dinner and church. Lately, I’ve been wearing lots of loungewear and slippers and I’m not mad at that. This year, I’m going to be wearing my favorite lounge pieces instead. Here are some fun and comfy things to wear at home.
Celebration and Worship
Last, but definitely not least, it’s important for us to attend Easter service in some way shape or form. This year, for Easter worship service we are turning to online resources. Most communities have a list of churches offering an online option and if you’re in the Charlotte, NC area, here’s a list of the options available. Also, I found this link on how to celebrate Easter and Holy Week at home on Pinterest.
I know you all have some great ideas for how you’re to make Easter Sunday special in your home, so PLEASE PLEASE share with me what you’re going to be doing! I hope you have an amazing day and enjoy this special time with your loved ones.
